SUSTAINABILITY

COMMITTED TO a sustainable future

Graig is committed to a sustainable future and has adopted a number of initiatives at a corporate level relating to Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) matters, with close alignment to the UN sustainable development goals, which form the blueprint to achieving a more sustainable future for the world and its peoples.

This corporate approach is adopted alongside the continued exploration of the boundaries of future vessel design which embraces the latest
sustainable thinking and in particular, focusses on the needs of IMO 2030 and the growing demand for decarbonisation throughout the maritime industry.

The intellectual property and barriers to entry that Graig has developed are invested and harnessed through our years of experience in designing, building and delivering class-leading vessels, as well as our ability to add value to all stakeholders, guiding our customers through the complexities of the ever-changing landscape of the modern maritime and renewables industries.

Whether it be through entrance into the renewables sectors or through the development of eco-friendly dry bulk designs, Graig has the entrepreneurial know how, knowledge and experience to help our customers navigate through these ever-changing times".

Sustainable Development Goals

Adopted by all UN members states, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which are an urgent call for action by all countries to focus on ending poverty and other deprivations. hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

We are committed to sustainability across our entire operation, from office to shipyard. In particular we are focusing on three goals that both align with Graig's ethos as well with our employees own passions.

Graig and the Renewables sector

Graig has proven a track record of delivering vessel designs into the wind farm installation sector. In partnership with Mayflower Energy Ltd and the Designers Knud E. Hansen the Graig Group supervised the construction, test and delivery of the first Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) to be built in China. This presented a significant step for China in to the construction of WTIV and opened the door to what is now a significant part of China’s offshore vessel construction business providing a greener future.

Following successful delivery of the TIV Mayflower Resolution, the ShanHaiGuan Shipyard went on to build more similar vessels and Graig continues to harness this experience to support modern SOV's in the Global Offshore Wind Markets.

Graig is actively seeking partners who wish to join our Diamond Business Model of operating, focused on the Global offshore wind space, where supply and demand fundamentals make a strong case for a tonnage shortage. There is insufficient fleet capacity to fulfil the demand of all known wind farms by 2030.

The Diamond SOV Design

Graig continues to work extensively with DNV, which has unmatched classification experience towards the global offshore renewables industry through a range of world class standards to support efficient design, construction and operation whilst also taking full benefit of available leading edge digital technologies.

Alongside Diamond 2, Graig and DNV are developing a best in class Service Operation Vessel (SOV) that will set the standards for sustainable SOV ship design and operations in the high growth offshore renewables sector. This new generation SOV concept and philosophy is meeting future industry expectations and will:

  • Deliver reliable and low emission dynamic positioning anywhere powered by a hybrid energy efficient power plant prepared for modular upgrade as low decarbonized and zero emission fuel solutions become commercially available.
  • Provide comfortable & quiet accommodation for full complements of crew and windfarm technicians onboard.
  • Ensure safe and efficient transfer of people and cargo to/from the wind turbines.
  • Use active decision support systems to optimize operational performance.
  • Be cyber secure with a data infrastructure prepared for remote surveys & support.
  • Offer options for modular upgrade and modular installations.
  • Target series construction of world class vessels and will reduce the total cost of operations.
