Graig views the management onboard its vessels as a seamless extension of its Cardiff Office. Graig continues to employ a core of experienced British senior officers, in addition to experienced officers from the Philippines, Croatia and the Baltic States. These officers ensure that joint-venture partners, co-investors, customers and Graig itself all benefit when this onboard management acts as a seamless extension of its back up in Cardiff.

Junior officers and ratings are recruited from the company's established crewing pool in Manila and more recently, St. Petersburg. We take direct and active involvement in their training, the most crucial area of personal advancement. Graig Ship Management staff regularly visit all crewing agencies and are personally involved with training, which is well received and underlines our commitment to career prospects and welfare. The policy of internal promotion ensures retention of our most experienced crew.

Combined with competitive remuneration and repatriation allowances this policy fosters loyalty, thereby controlling recruitment overhead, and minimum wastage. Graig enjoys a very high crew retention rate in all recruiting areas, consequently shipboard harmony, continuity and productivity remain at an enhanced level. This benefits our staff, our partners and our customers.

Training for staff at all levels is a continuous process. This ensures familiarity with new technology and practices and early compliance with ever more demanding requirements of the ISM Code.
